We like to get to know our customers, so here’s a chance to get to know us too! Let’s Meet The Team.
Duncan Weisters
Duncan started 24 years ago as a trainee manager in the weaving mill when his Dad was at the helm of the family business. Now Managing Director, Duncan has full oversight of woven and printed Ties, Furnishing Fabrics, Sewing, Woven Badges and of course, Bridal Fabrics. Duncan is a keen golfer and is married to Caroline (who also works in the business) and they have four children.
Asked what he enjoys the most about his current role Duncan said, “ The diversity of challenges on a daily basis from Design, Production Planning, finance, marketing etc. Every day is different. I enjoy staying abreast of new trends in Bridal Fabrics and ensuring that we have the best range possible. I particularly like liaising with customers and finding solutions to their needs.
So what’s Duncan’s area of expertise across the bridal range? “In Bridal, I am expert on the different design and production techniques in lace manufacturing, whether it be embroidered, Chantilly, beaded, Guipure or another type.”
Whatever your lace and fabric requirements, we’re sure Duncan and the team can find a solution for you.
Caroline Weisters
The newest member of the Bridal Fabrics family is Carolinewho, like most of us, tends to do bit of everything! Caroline said, “I’ve been here nearly six years now and, after starting with sampling to learn about the range I’ve progressed to sales and marketing manager. As well as processing sales orders and supporting customers, Caroline also shares regular newsletters and manages our social channels such as Facebook and Instagram @bridalfabrics which Caroline is on the other end of!
Caroline’s favourite pastime is running and at work it’s liaising with customers, "I exhibit at the shows with Duncan and I really enjoy that. I also like the speed with which we deal with queries, samples and orders – I think I’m an adrenaline junkie so I love it when we’re busy getting everything out on time."
In terms of the bridal range Caroline loves the laces and spends time advising customers on laces to fit their brief. If you have a lace or fabric requirement, drop Caroline a line and see if she can help.
Catherine Kay
Catherine has been at Bridal Fabrics for twelve years (with a little break in between to take care of her two lovely boys) and is one of the essential cogs in the seamless running of Bridal Fabrics.
Though you may talk to Catherine over the phone or liaise over email, what you can’t see is that Catherine is smiling! Always! Having started in an admin role, Catherine is responsible for helping customers over the internet and phone; processing both orders and sample requests; amending stock levels and booking in deliveries. When asked what she enjoys most about her role Catherine said, “Aside from the fact that there are beautiful laces to work with all day, I enjoy helping customers with choosing laces to meet their requirements. I enjoy processing the orders and samples, from seeing them come in to watching them go out (pretty much the same day) and I love it when customers send in photographs of their finished creations.”
So what is Catherine’s favourite product? “Oh no, I am useless at making decisions. I cannot have just one of anything. I do love a little sparkle so maybe the heavily beaded laces such as Imani, Lanisha & Renata. As for trims, I would head straight towards Gravity crystal trim and Delta as my favourite appliqué.”
So after fourteen years, why does Catherine like working at Bridal fabrics? I like that it is a family run business that has a personal touch. I like the friendships I have formed and that fellow staff across the varied departments will always try to help each other out as best they can. Also the fact I am partaking in making all those childhood dreams come true!
Lucia Arnone
Lucia started with the company in 1994 in a different role that involving sewing production so has experience and expertise to offer. Lucia’s current role is to fulfil sample requests, restock samples and ensure a smooth customer experience with their sampling requirements. A quiet and conscientious member of staff, Lucia has a sharp wit and must have a will of iron as she often astounds us all with her ability to resist cakes and chocolate treats!
Heavily involved in caring for her four grandchildren, Lucia is a committed family woman who enjoys walking in the great outdoors in her spare time. What’s Lucia’s passion? "I absolutely adore the coloured silk fabrics. They are so beautiful and luxurious and when I handle them I can imagine them as beautiful and luxurious dresses (they are also easier to cut than lace!)."
